Brittany Pressley does the job well it’s tough to narrate Lisa Gardner’s heroine because they are complicated most of the time. Then the horror strikes her and she comes to know the secret that was better to be left buried i.e the murder of a girl in Stokes family.Īfter that the digging in the past speeds up because Melanie feels that her life is under a serious threat and by digging her past she has made her present terrible. Looks like a corner of her memory is somehow blocked to her and she just cannot find the key to it. She knows that she was adopted by this ideal couple with which she lives now because her real family just left her in the Boston hospital only now she wants to know why.Īnother thing troubling the mind of the girl is her memory that tells her nothing about her life before adoption.
No suspense enters the story until the day Melanie receives an anonymous note which sends her on a hunt about her true identity.
Melanie Stokes thinks of her as the luckiest girl in the whole wide world because she has everything that a person needs in life. For the first half we think that we are listening to the conclusion of a story because everything seems to be concluding well for the girl who met with an accident twenty years ago. Lisa Gardner, queen of weird suspense stories in the modern era, takes this story to limits unknown this time.
